Taking a cue from Bangalore Stamp duty reduction; Maharashtra govt has gone for reduction in stamp duty reduction unto 2% in areas of gram Panchayats and have gone for 1% stamp duty reduction in areas outside municipal limits.
So areas with in Gram Panchayat will have to pay stamp duty @3% and areas outside municipal limit pays @4%. Earlier it was a uniform stamp duty @5%.
This move is going to give a fillip to property market and benami transactions will be curtailed to a great extent.
