Transformers and Rectifiers India manufactures a wide range of transformers. It was originally incorporated in 1994 and got its present name in 1995. The ISO 9001:2000 certified company manufactures transformers upto 220 KV class including generator transformers, station auxiliary transformers, unit auxiliary transformer, power transformers, interconnecting transformers (auto transformer), and trackside transformers for railways with an installed capacity of 7,200 MVA transformers per annum. The two manufacturing units are located in Changodar and Odhav near Ahmedabad, both in Gujarat. The Changodar facility is ISO 9001:2000 compliant. The products find application in utilities and power transmission companies. The subsidiaries of the company include Transweld Mechanical Engineering Works and Transpares.
The company has customers like Transmission Corporation of Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company, Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation, Rohit Ferro-Tech, Monnet Ispat & Energy and Inductotherm India among others. The company earned 34.60%, 46.42% and 50.98% of the total revenue in FY05, FY06 and FY07 respectively from utilities and the remaining part from power transmission companies. It exports transformers to countries like England, United Arab Emirates, Canada, South Africa, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia.
