New Delhi Television (NDTV) is a private producer of news, current affairs and entertainment television. It was incorporated on Sep.08, 1988 as a private limited company and converted into a public limited company on Aug. 31, 1994. NDTV is India`s first and largest private producer of news, current affairs and entertainment television. The company has 23 offices and studios across the country with modern and sophisticated production and newsgathering facilities. NDTV 24X7, the flagship English news channel is the market leader. Other channels include NDTV India, the company`s 24-hour Hindi news channel and NDTV Profit, a 24-hour business channel. The company launched Astro Awani in Indonesia with Astro, a leading South East Asia media group. Astro Awani is a 24-hour news, infotainment and lifestyle channel. To expand its presence on the global media map, NDTV Arabia was launched to cater to the Middle East. The first city specific channel NDTV MetroNation was launched in Delhi covering four broad genres of news and current affairs, lifestyle, entertainment and youth. In March 2007, NDTV announced the signing of a definitive agreement with Com Ventures VI, for an investment of USD 20 million in NDTV Networks, UK. The company through NDTV News has interests in radio with Radio Today (Mumbai) Broadcasting, Radio Today (Delhi) Broadcasting, Radio Today (Calcutta) Broadcasting from the Living Media group. NDTV India won the Best Hindi News channel Award for the year 2007. A subsidiary, NDTV Networks, raised a total of USD 120 million in May 2007 to cover the financing requirements of the various verticals of Networks Plc. such as NDTV Imagine, NDTV Lifestyle, NGEN Media Services, NDTV Convergence, NDTV Labs and NDTV Emerging Markets 24x7. Other subsidiaries have been established in the Netherlands, UK and India. It also consolidated its position with a strategic long-term partnership with NBC Universal, Inc. for which a memorandum of agreement was signed with NBCU in January 2008. During the year, the company entered into agreement with Sun Direct TV for distribution of its channels on DTH platform; with Tata Sky for the availability of NDTV Imagine and NDTV GoodTimes on the Tata Sky platform; and with Singnet for availability of its channels on IPTV and mobile platforms in Singapore. NDTV Imagine has also tied-up with BskyB platform for availability of NDTV Imagine Channel for the UK viewers.
