Though this post is about credit card offers, however the prelude to this writeup is due to mine getting stumped when I got a gold coin as a reward for shopping with Axis bank debit card whose scheme expired on 30 Nov 2009. If you have used your debit card of Axis bank and had shopped for Rs 1 Lakh during the month of Nov; one can claim their reward from Axis bank. Not to worry because you will get one or the other item even if your shopping was less than one Lakh amount. These items range from silver showpiece, strolley bag etc. However a point to note is that one must have had made 5 transactions of Rs 3000.

Axis bank has become very fussy in issuing the credit cards post financial mayhem in the world and credit card is available only against a fixed deposit held with a bank and only 85% of the fixed deposit credit is the limit imposed on the card. it is a win-win situation for the bank.

HDFC bank is all out to promote their own swipe machines and are providing double the points on HDFC machine swipe (valid upto 31 Dec 2009) and to quote the same from the HDFC site is as following:

However do remember that on has to read the terms and conditions to be able to get the utmost benefit from these credit card usage.

ICICI Bank Credit Card Offers
ICICI Bank was aggressively pushing its credit cards before the financial mess it got into; however off late the Credit Cards are not being issued with ease and same are being issued against a bank fixed deposit held with them. However its credit cards are offering a number of bnefits ranging from Lifetime free cards, Global emergency assistance service, Discounts, Utility payments, Travel discounts, payment in monthly EMIs on the Credit Card and it is also providing Family Plus which is a complete insurance plan that is flexible enough to cover every member of the family and a pair of Reebok shoes at an unbelievable discount of 50%.
ICICI is offering a plethora of cards and one can choose the same as per an individual requirement and can make the best from the plastic money.
Readers are requested to record any interesting card offers , so that all off us can get the best deals and not to forget that you get 2.5% cash back on petrol purchases; thought it is a different issue that these petrol pumps do not maintain the credit card swipe machines. Atleast HPCL, BPCL, IOC and IBP must wake to the requirement and install the swipe machines which will help an average user to get the best out of the plastic money.

SBI has launched a campaign on TV where it is showing that usage of a debit card ex SBI is best.
As a word of caution do remember to pay your card amount before the due date else one will get into the debt cycle and these banks love such customers as they charge them exhorbitant interest rates on their balance amount.
