1. After a long time the stock closed above Sensex 17000 levels and above Nifty 5100 levels. Sensex closed at 17125, up 404 points and Nifty cklosed at 5111 up 111 points from the previous close.
2. The CNX Midcaps index rose by 0.57% .
3. BSE Smallcaps index rose by 0.15%.
4. Banking, technology and metals stocks stole the lime light among the sectors.
5. However I am only concerned with a fact that the market breadth was negative with advances at 581 against declines of 660 on the NSE which is a reason of concern in a rising market.
6. Top Nifty gainers included Bharti Airtel, Reliance Communications and Idea while losers included ACC, Tata Power and Maruti.
