3. Previous Day Stock Diary: It certainly will be a merry Christmas for the market players now! The day belonged to the bulls, with the market opening on a positive note and gaining further strength throughout the trading session. Positive global cues, along with the revival of IT stocks boosted the market and the Sensex ended the day at 19,854, up 691 points from the previous close. Nifty shut shop at 5985, up 218 points. BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices gained 2.1% and 1.4% respectively. The clear drivers of the rally were the IT heavyweights; Wipro (up 8.9%), Infosys (6.6%) and Satyam (6.3%). All sectoral indices closed higher.
