Why Are Brokerages Bullish On JSW Energy With Strong Capacity Outlook?
JSW Energy Ltd., part of the JSW Group, is a leading private sector power producer in India with a diversified portfolio of thermal, hydro, and renewable assets. The company has steadily transitioned toward clean energy while expanding capacity aggressively. With strong execution, a clear growth roadmap, and acquisitions strengthening its portfolio, JSW Energy has attracted bullish views from top brokerages like Jefferies and Morgan Stanley. Both firms see substantial upside in capacity and earnings over the next decade.
Jefferies View On JSW Energy
The brokerage points out that the company expects 4.4–4.9 GW of capacity addition in FY26, which is well above the street estimate of 3.1 GW. Under its Strategy 3.0, JSW Energy aims to expand capacity to 30 GW (a 2.8x rise) by FY30, while targeting a 4x increase in EBITDA. Jefferies projects a robust 42% CAGR in EBITDA during FY25–28, driven by timely execution and strong demand fundamentals. The brokerage also expects power demand to normalize at 6% CAGR between FY27 and FY30, supporting long-term growth visibility.
Morgan Stanley View On JSW Energy
The brokerage highlighted the acquisition of the 150 MW Hydro Tidong Plant from Statkraft for ₹1,730 crore, expected to be completed by January 2026 (subject to approvals). Once integrated, JSW Energy’s total portfolio will reach 30.5 GW, with 13.1 GW operational. The hydro portfolio will rise to 1.8 GW, making it the largest among private players. Morgan Stanley notes that the company has already exceeded its medium-term guidance, underscoring management’s execution strength.
Capacity Expansion And Strategic Vision
The company is steadily scaling up capacity across wind, solar, and hydro, while keeping a close eye on operational efficiency. Its aggressive capex cycle, coupled with disciplined balance sheet management, makes it well-positioned to capture India’s rising energy requirements.
Why Investors Should Track JSW Energy
Analysts believe that the company’s focus on renewables, hydro expansion, and diversification into emerging energy areas such as storage will sustain momentum. Moreover, the acquisition pipeline reinforces confidence that growth will not just be organic but also strategic.
