What Is the 1% Trader Mindset & How Do You Build It?
The 1% Mindset (Build These)
- Patience — wait for A+ setups, not every candle.
- Hardworking — journal, backtest, review weekly.
- No Greed — predefined exits; partial book-outs.
- Confidence — comes from data, not hope.
- Strong Mindset — process & risk first, profits second.
The 99% Traps (Avoid These)
- Impatience — overtrading, FOMO entries.
- Fear — cutting winners, holding losers.
- Laziness — no plan, no logs, no review.
- Weak Mindset — system hopping after a loss.
- Greed — revenge trades, oversized positions.
- Pre-Market (10 mins): Read your plan. Mark levels. Decide if today is a trade day. No setup = no trade.
- Risk Guardrails: Max daily loss = 0.5%–1% of capital; max 3 trades/day; position size pre-calculated.
- Execution Checklist (before every entry): Trend? Level? Signal? Risk/Reward ≥ 1:2? News risk? If any “No”, skip.
- During Trade: Place stop immediately. Don’t move stop away. Scale out into strength/weakness.
- Post-Market (15 mins): Journal with 3 bullets: what I did well, what I will improve, what I will stop doing.
- Weekly Review: Tag mistakes (FOMO, late exit, size). Fix one mistake per week only.
Rules That Protect Your Mind
- Trade less, review more. Edge lives in selection and sizing.
- Automate discipline. Use conditional orders; alerts for levels; default stop distance.
- Separate identity from outcome. You evaluate the decision quality, not today’s P&L.
- Sleep, food, and breaks. Tired minds chase; rested minds wait.
