Does Degrees define a Real Human Being?

I want to touch on something very important — the difference between education and true learning, between degrees and wisdom, between information and knowledge.

Today, I had an experience that left a deep impression on me. I met someone who proudly listed a long series of degrees —  B Tech, Ph.D., B.Sc., fellowships, Double M.A., L.L.B., and more.

But what surprised me was that in spite of having such an impressive academic background, his behavior did not reflect the wisdom or humility one would expect.

It made me realize something very important:
Degrees alone do not define a person's character. They are pieces of paper unless backed by good behavior, empathy, and humility.

In fact, a well-behaved individual with a strong moral compass can often go further in life than someone with a string of qualifications but no understanding of human values.

Unfortunately, in today's world — especially in our schools — we focus heavily on teaching English, modern science, and Western ideals, while neglecting human values, behavior, and our rich Indian culture. Education should not only prepare a child to earn a living, but also to live a meaningful and responsible life.

Schools should be centers where children learn about:

Our history and heritage

The values of compassion, humility, and respect

The difference between knowledge and information

The art of listening rather than just hearing

We must rethink and rebuild our education system. Let it shape not just intelligent individuals, but cultured, ethical, and socially responsible citizens. Let our children be proud of who they are, rooted in their culture, and ready to face the future with confidence and clarity.

This is not just a call for reform — it's a call for national transformation. I urge all stakeholders in the education system to go beyond good English and formulas. Teach children what it means to be human, what it means to be Indian, and what it takes to build a better world.

Only then can we truly build a nation that thrives — not just intellectually, but morally and spiritually.
