Sangat or people around whom you hang out with or our circle is very important.
All our saints have been emphasizing upon the importance of *satsang*
I want to add one more dimension to this aspect of selecting our circles.
In 1901, a German psychologist Hermann Ebbinghaus discovered a phenomenon of illusion, which is named after him, *Ebbinghaus Illusion*.
In this illusion two circles of the same size of appear to be different in size because of the surrounding circles.
When a circle is surrounded by smaller circles it appears BIG
When it's surrounded by bigger circles it appears SMALL.
I have a small illustration of the lesson this phenomenon offers us (look at the picture).
This illusion has a wonderful lesson for us while choosing the CIRCLES or the sangat.
*Lesson 1*: If you have to imbibe knowledge and wisdom and grow, then select the bigger circles. It might make you look small..yes... that's what is required.. being humble. And select those who are great achievers, teachers, role models, who you want to emulate - A sangat of bigger circles.
*Lesson 2*- If you want to contribute something to people and help them grow, then select smaller circles. What it means is people who are smaller than you, meaning who are in need of assistance or help. Yes. By doing that you grow up by your generosity and leadership- a sangat of smaller circles.
So, select your circles, based on your requirements.
