The markets will generally give you returns in tune with nominal GDP(real GDP +inflation).
Over the last two years or so, markets at benchmark level, Nifty 50, has not given any returns. So, sooner or later, markets will cover up all the under performance of the previous years and bring the annualised returns to long term averages in the range of 14-15%.

So, if that has to happen, we can expect strong rally in Nifty. But, only caveat is the timings of this market rally. It may happen in near future or may happen over next six to twelve months or may be even later.
It's futile to try and time the markets. Only thing we can do is to remain invested in good quality investments so that we do not miss out on the market rally as and when it comes.
By the way, it's the large cap index, Nifty 50/Sensex which has been flat over the last two years. There has been a strong rally in mid and small cap over the last six months or so. Mid cap index is trading at all time High.
