Everything that had to go wrong with a cricketer - went wrong with Pravin Tambe. Since the age of 12 and until the age of 41, Tambe aspired to play for Mumbai's Ranji team.  

He didn't.  

Tambe's pursuit towards cricket was nothing short of madness. Things went so bad, that at the age of 36, with no visible future in Cricket, Tambe started working as a waiter at a dance bar in Mumbai.

Looking at his sorry state, his good friend and fellow cricketer Abey Kuruvilla helped him get the job of a construction supervisor at DY Patil Stadium.  

After slogging for years and never even being considered amongst Ranji probables, everyone in the Mumbai cricketing fraternity, including Kuruvilla, believed that Tambe's career was over.

Tambe was 41, when Rahul Dravid spotted him at DY Patil stadium. 

RR was looking for a leg spinner and Dravid made an offer to Tambe to join his IPL team.  

In one single day, three decades of Tambe's toil, hard work, passion and talent bore fruit. Tambe joined Royals and even took a hattrick to win an IPL match for his team.

A year later, Mumbai Cricket selected Tambe to play for their Ranji team.

Pravin Tambe is no Kumble or Shane Warne. Yet a film has been made on his life. 

Kumble and Shane Warne haven't received that honour, even though they were the greatest leg spinners in cricketing history.  

You know why? Because Tambe stood up without giving in despite 30 long years of cricketing failure. 

There is no parallel in the history world cricket for what Tambe has done. Which is why Tambe's story deserved to be told. 

Tambe's coach Paradkar said, "All you need is one good over." When you push destiny to its limits, it has no choice but to turnaround your fortunes.

Pravin Tambe is a proof of this hypothesis. 

There is a Pravin Tambe in each one of us. His pursuit to his dream teaches us that the longer we refuse to give up, the better are our chances of overcoming an impending failure.
