Record services exports of $250 billion in 21-22 coupled with an all time high merchandise exports of $420 billion has pushed India's total exports to $670 billion (24% up from pre-COVID $540 billion in 19-20).
This has catapulted India 10 places to 8th in total exports. India was the 9th biggest exporter in 1949, rapidly moving out of the top 10 in 1950 and top 20 by 1957. India re-entered the top 20 in 2010 and inched up to 18th in 2017-18.
