The probable real agenda lies in the fact that Russia has developed pipeline Nord Stream from Russia to Germany for transportation of the gas and USA sees it as a threat because Germany will be now dependent on Russia for its energy requirements and dependence leads to trust and trust leads to losing of hegemony by USA.
If Germany starts importing gas directly from Russia it means that they can settle their dues in their local currencies and does depreciation of dollar will occur.
So the real agenda is to put so much pressure on Russia that it wages war on Ukraine and in turn USA gets a chance to portray Russia as a villain in front of the whole Europe and then the complete Europe's gets after Russia which will ensure that USA hegemony is maintained.
