CIVIL EMPLOYMENT OPTION FOR OFFICERS
Most of us are aware of Premature retirement (PMR) and Deputations but are not adequately aware of the facility of Civ Emp (AO 27/87) in which while in service, you apply for Govt jobs of your choice and once selected, you exit army (PMR) to join the new job. The PMR is processed on priority. This is the safest and smoothest option because you don't have any risk of joblessness, as happens if you take normal PMR and then do job hunting in pvt or Govt.
Those of us who are non-empaneled or are permanent low medical categories or LMCs, are eligible.
How to know where job opportunities exist?
You need to scan through Emp news, job ads, online portals, pers refs etc. If you are eligible as per the criteria, apply.
Any Special Qual reqd?
Depends on the job reqd. Even non-tech offrs can apply for many jobs. Your two decades of experience and SSB passing is your biggest qual.
which field of Govt orgs are open to faujies?
Practically all. But recent trends indicate that universities are looking for us as Registrars, metro rail corporations, NHAI/NHIDCL, DRDO etc.
Can we apply for Foreign Jobs also?
Yes. Very much. You can apply for jobs in orgs where India is a member eg UN, SAARC, Red Cross etc. Procedure remains largely the same for Indian and foreign jobs.
How to Apply?
Fill application and send it to MS7. (Send it to MS7 only. If you send directly, you will invite action against you). MS7 has a Civ Emp desk. They will scrutinise the appl, take approval of the MS and fwd the appl and NOC to the org where you are applying.
How does the Selection happen?
Once your appl is recd by them, the org will call you for interview or will select as per their procedures. They also require your past CRs and Vigilance docu which MS7 will provide to them.
If selected then?
Send the Appt letter to MS7 along with PMR appl. You will be gtd PMR on priority to join the new organisation.
QRs
One needs to meet anyone of these 5 conditions
- Non empaneled
- 2 yr residual service (retirement age)
- Permt LMC non promotable
- Permt LMC causing difficulties in continuing in service
- Failed in part D till 18 yrs of service
Has this facility been availed by indls
Yes, Numerous placements have already taken place . The indls get to serve till 60 years of age and retire at pay level 14 (Maj Gen).
