What Matters in Loss?

One must remember that it is not the loss which makes the difference but it is the size of the loss which makes the difference. For eg you have to predefine that I will have not more than say 2% loss of my capital per day and this means that you require consecutive 50 days losses to wipe out your capital which will rarely happen. In worst of the worst scenario, you will not have more than 5-6 days trading losses consecutively and that is extreme if you are trading on your own.

However, if you are having large losses say upto 10% capital per loss means that only 10 losing streaks can wipe you out of the market. The aim is to stay longer in the market and for that you have to predefine that I will not have more than 2% loss per day and if I have three consecutive losses days, then I will not trade for the balance of the week. At times giving a break post losing streaks do good for your capital. Then again post-break you can start with a new perspective.
