Telecom AGR Dues & Latest Decision Timeline

Solicitor General: As per us DoT, Airtel owes a sum of Rs 43,780 cr. These below figures are as of July 19.

• Airtel paid Rs 18,004 cr, Balance is Rs 25,976 cr
• Voda paid Rs 7,854 cr, Balance is Rs 50,399 cr
• Tata paid Rs 4,197 cr, Balance is Rs 12,601 cr

Again the SC has deferred the judgment to August,10. Also with the developments, the court has assigned time to the Telcos to pay the AGR dues and had ordered to stop recalculating the dues as per their calculations as the amount stated by the court will be final. Hence the company will have to come out with some strong stance in regards to their inability to pay the entire dues at one go, so they said they want to pay the dues in a staggered manner.

The company was asked to make adequate security for the payment (as no lenders are agreeing to fund them at this particular juncture). Also the judgment should be now not far away as Justice Mishra is set to retire in September and hence the verdict should also be made clear by him until then (this is just anticipation which the market is making).So let's wait till August 10 2020 for the Final verdict if concluded.
