The I&B ministry has hit a road block in their digitisation efforts as four metros have expressed their concern that set top boxes have been installed only in 30% of the houses.
Thus the deadline of 01 July 2012 in 4 metros to include Delhi, Kolkatta, Mumbai and Chennai has been put off by 4 months i.e. till 31 Oct 2012. Thus now all Trai regulations for Digital Addressable System will come into effect from 1st November, 2012
Thus plan for switchover from analogue to digitalised signals will have to wait for four more months in these metros and we hope to see whole country digitalised by Dec 2014.
