The formula for Pepsi-Cola was developed in 1931 by Richard Ritchie.
Now Pepsi is in for a trouble as heirs of Richard Ritchie has sued Pepsico Inc ( PEP.N ) stating that original documents of the formula were theirs to share with historians, collectors and film producers.
The heirs to include Ritchie's daughter, Joan Ritchie Silleck, and his son, Robert Ritchie have filed a lawsuit in Manhattan federal court. Their contention is that they want to let the whole world know their father's extraordinary life story without interference or the threat of litigation" from Pepsi. It appears that Pepsi will have to walk a tight rope to save its most guarded formula.
