As a layman one must understand that dearness allowance (DA) is calculated as per All India Consumer Price Index Numbers for Industrial Workers which considers Base year 2001=100.
Now analysis for all figures suggest that we can have a hike of 7% in DA wef July 2012 for central government employees. The CPI-IW for May, 2012 will be released on the last working day of the next month, i.e. 29th June, 2012. The states will automatically follow suit as per order issued by central govt.

DA order is generally released 2-3 months after the passing of the commencing month and at times it may be announced during the 15 August speech to boost up the sagging morale of the central government employees and defence personnel..
