No doubt Barkha Dutt who is currently Group Editor at NDTV 24×7 and a host of the weekly show, ‘We the People’ is doing a commendable task at least for the women gender as she has shown that men and women are equal irrespective of the work profile. Definitely she brought the war to bed room and channelised the whole nation together. She won the Chameli Devi Jain Award in 1999, for her reporting on the Orissa cyclone and the Kargil War. Her mother, Prabha Dutt, won the same award in 1982.
However we have only one grudge against her that during Kargil war, in her exhuberance she showed the route to an Indian gun position from where shelling was being undertaken and moment that recording was televised, the artillery position of India was bombarded by Pakistanis which led to our soldiers suffering causalities.
So, can we pronounce Barkha Dutt guilty of killing Indian soldiers. On the face of the facts, the answer is affirmative. However same can be considered as an ignorance on her part or may be exuberance and she can be let off the charge. We can only request her to do her bit so that this blot gets washed away from her unblemished career. We wish her all luck in her future endeavours.
