The statistic makers for India need to be careful as they have not only committed mistake but we will call it as a blunder and this blunder has occurred while calculating IIP nos for Jan 2012 qtr.
The sentiments are echoed in the voice of Pranab Mukherjee, Finance Minister of India and same is as appended below:
"I can understand if there is error in calculating 0.1% or 0.2%, but from 6.8% to 1.1%, it is totally baffling (IIP Nos). We shall have to ensure that government data, their integrity should not be challenged...I have asked concerned authorities to look into it that why it has taken place and they should be much more careful in the future."
Hope we take a lesson from it and get our act together and make sure that IIP data is reflected properly in India in future.
