It is heartening that Parsi’s have high income businesses in place and they consider a Parsi as a poor man who earns less than Rs 50,000 a month.
This fact came to light when a case came for hearing for allotment of a flat to a poor Parsi as Parsi community contended that any Parsi with income less than Rs 50,000 should be considered as poor and thus eligible for allotment of a flat at subsidised rent.
We wish that India as a whole can raise the level of definition of poor like Paris's and we do not still linger @ Rs 32 per day income to be classified as below poverty line.
