Indian Railways is going to list its tax free bonds at NSE and BSE and this issue will be open for subscription wef 27 Jan 12 and will close on 10 Feb 2012. Investment can be made in multiple of Rs 5000. You can sell these bonds in open market after subscription.
The size of issue is Rs. 6,300 crores and NRIs can also invest in the issue.

Indian railways bond has got the highest rating. So if you are looking for fixed income stream, than you can go for it as maximum interest in this segment is 8.3% with lock in period varying between 10-15 years. Just note that interest is paid annually.
