Megaupload is trying its best to save its data from being deleted. However as per latest reports; its data can be deleted as early as coming Thursday i.e. 02 Feb 2012 onwards.
The US attorneys are of the view that Megaupload's assets have been frozen and thus the service cannot pay the hosting companies to keep hosting the data and thus their data will be deleted. You can check out Megaupload Copyright Infringement here.
Implications
- More than 50 million users may be affected as a large number of them may have used the services for data uploading legally.
- The website founder Kim Dotcom (a.k.a. Kim Schmitz) and six others are accused of making $175 and causing $500 million in copyright infringement.
- Act now and save your data as it is likely to be deleted sooner or later. Megaupload is dead!
