The D-day for Dalal street is about to arrive tomorrow as RBI is going to announce the credit policy update. The ship of Nifty will sink if RBI goes against the market opinion and hike the rates as inflation monster is under control and we need not panic. The Nifty has to close above the level of 5060 for the uptrend to continue in stock market. As we had stated that banking stocks will be in the limelight in next 2 days and same happened with today’s closing where all the star performers were banking stocks as private sector banks posted better than expected Q3 numbers indicating that the economy is on track. Banking will be the buzzword if RBI cuts the rates.

Going by the previous day History we find that market trend is positive as out of a total of 3244 stocks traded on the BSE, 1620 stocks advanced, 1487 stocks declined and 137 stocks remained unchanged. As a strategy one can short the Nifty if it breaks the level of 5000 mark as market appears to be overstretched. Till yesterday traders have been exercising moderation and are waiting with bated breath for RBI credit policy update on 24 Jan 2012.
