Crest Animation Studios (CRESTANI), develops and produces computer-generated animation products for the global theatrical feature film, home video and television entertainment markets. Founded by Shyam Ramanna (chairman) in 1990, the company was converted into a public limited company on Jul. 08, 1994. Earlier known as Crest Communications, it got its present name on Dec. 22, 2004. The company uses its Mumbai-based animation facility and its Los Angeles arm to provide high quality CGI (computer generated imaging) animation product to the global animation industry. It offers to develop quality properties and to offer superior outsourcing services across all major formats of the entertainment industry, primarily feature films, DVD, television and interactive gaming. The Mumbai office has a production team of approximately 500 working in a 45,000 sq. ft. facility with multi-software/platform adaptability skills. Delivering more than 200 half hours of television and home video titles in CGI animation, the company has worked for such clients as Mike Young Productions, Mark Brown, Classic Media, Nelvana, American Greetings, Marathon and Nickelodeon. It is the first Indian company to have produced an animated Hollywood film and has produced animation for several international TV shows such as Jakers and Pet Alien that have won many awards including Daytime EMMY, BAFTA, FICCI Frames 2005, Humanitas Prize for Children`s Animation, and a nomination for Annie Award.
