Pioneer Distilleries (PIONRDIS) is engaged in the manufacture of rectified spirit (RS), extra-neutral alcohol (ENA), and absolute alcohol (ethanol). It was incorporated on Nov. 25, 1992 and got its present name on July 4, 1994 through shareholder resolution. The company has its plant located in the Nanded district of Maharashtra. In FY07, it expanded the existing plant capacity from 50 KLPD to 100 KLPD and successfully commenced commercial production from the month of January 2007. It is further expanding capacity to 200 KLPD and has obtained the in-principle approval from the state excise department of Maharashtra. Part of this expansion includes increasing its ethanol plant capacity from 30 KLPD to 130 KLPD. It owns around 300 acres of land used for agricultural cultivation with treated effluents and is setting up an additional effluent treatment plant with evaporator to become zero-discharge effluent in the future. As part of expansion program for FY08, the company will be setting up a biogas-based power project at the factory premises at an estimated cost of Rs 400 million. The 5 MW biogas-based power project is expected to commence commercial production by August 2008, and revenue generation from carbon credits is expected from September 2008. It is in the process of tying up with a reputed organization based in the UK to get registered with UNFCCC for getting carbon credits for this project.
