Mangalam Cement (MANGALC), incorporated on Oct. 27, 1976, is a well established cement manufacturing company. It is part of the B.K. Birla group, which has diverse businesses in varied industries like textiles, cement, rayon, tyres, chemicals, ply boards, plantations, education, horticulture, shipping, air-taxi, electricals, refractories and spun pipes. Other group companies include Kesoram Industries, Century Textiles and Industries, Century Enka, Manjushree Plantations and Jayashree Tea & Industries. The ISO 9001:2000, IS/ISO 14001:2004 AND IS 18001:2007 certified company manufactures cement in 43 and 53 grades and Portland pozzolana cement (PPC) using the dry process, marketing them under the brand names Mangalam and Birla Uttam. Manufacturing units called Managalam Cement and Neer Shree Cement are both located at Morak in the Kota district of Rajasthan with a combined installed capacity of 2 million TPA. A 17.5 MW captive thermal power plant has been installed. Four wind mills of 0.6 MW capacity each and three wind mills of 1.25 MW capacity each were commissioned in FY08 in the district of Jaisalmer. The company has entered into a wheeling and banking Agreement with Jaipur Vidyut Vitran Nigam for captive use of power. Awards won during mines environment and mineral conservation week 2005-2006 are second prize for Reclamation, Rehabilitation & Restoration of Land; third for Air Pollution Control; and second prize for Poster Competition.
