Indian Railway Tatkal System–Time Available for Booking

Indian Railways have reduced the advance reservation period for Tatkal tickets from 2 days to 1 day to facilitate emergency travel. This is to make sure that a genuine person gets the advantage and more over the black marketeers will have less time for selling their booked tickets. Thus profiteering from the system loopholes will reduce substantially. Another factor which needs to be considered is that only 4 passengers can be booked on a single ticket in Tatkal scheme.

Agents will not be book tatkal tickets wef 8 am to 10 am in the morning and this is applicable for on-counter as well as internet bookings.
