Incorporated in 1961, Sakthi Sugars (SAKSUGAR) is promoted by the Sakthi group. The group`s principal activities are manufacturing and marketing of crystal sugar, industrial alcohol, iron castings, soya products, sunflower oil, molasses, fertilizers, chemicals, seeds, bio earth and other industrial products. It also publishes magazines. The company has sugar plants in Haripur (Dhenkanal, Orissa), Sivaganga (Tamil Nadu), Marchinaickenpalayam (Erode, Tamil Nadu), Pallagoundenpalayam (Erode, Tamil Nadu) and Sakthi Nagar (Erode, Tamil Nadu). SAKSUGAR is based in Coimbatore, India. Apart from the four sugar units, Sakthi Sugars has two distilleries and a foundry. The capacity of the foundry was expanded to 24,000 TPA. The company entered into technical collaboration with George Fischer Foundry, Switzerland to supply state-of-the-art manufacturing technology. Sakthi Sugars has decided to set up a 35 MW co-generation plant at the company`s sugar unit in Padamathur Village, Sivaganga and 25 a MW co-generation plant in Sakthinagar, Bhavani taluka, Erode district. The board has approved to set up a new sugar mill with a capacity to crush 3,000 TCD together with a co-generation plant to generate power of 25 MW as a green field project at a location to be decided.
