Lumax Auto Technologies (LUMAXTECH), part of the DK group of companies, is a full-capability provider of high quality automotive parts for two wheelers, three wheelers and four wheelers. The company was incorporated as a private limited company on Oct. 13, 1981, converted into a public limited company on May 30, 2002, and got its current name in 2006. The ISO 9001:2000 certified company manufactures sheet metal products like chassis, handlebar, fork and footrest assemblies; silencers; petrol tanks; side and main stands; and number plates. Lighting products include headlamps, tail lamps, blinkers, fog lamps and engine lamps.
The company has its manufacturing facilities in and around Pune, Waluj, and Aurangabad in Maharashtra and New Delhi. In FY07, two new units were commissioned in PCMC Bhosari Pune to manufacture chassis assemblies and sheet metal components for scooter and scooterettes and at Pantnagar, Uttarakhand through its 100% subsidiary Lumax DK Auto Industries to manufacture automotive lighting exclusively for Bajaj Auto in Pune and Pantnagar respectively. A modernized development center makes the necessary tooling, jigs, fixtures and gauges needed for manufacturing silencers (mufflers) for scooters and scooterettes. Lumax DK Auto Industries also manufactures gear shifter assemblies for four wheelers of Maruti Udyog at its Manesar (Gurgaon) plant and corrugated boxes at its Daulatabad (Gurgaon) plant. The company has formed a new 50:50 joint venture company, Lumax Cornaglia Auto Technologies, with Cornaglia Metallurgical Products India, a 100% subsidiary of Officine Metallurgiche G Cornaglia S.p.A, Italy to manufacture air intake and exhaust systems. About 80% of the company`s production is focused on Bajaj Auto. Other clients include Maruti Suzuki and Lumax Industries for two wheelers and scooterettes. Four-wheeler products are supplied to Maruti Udyog, Tata Motors, Ford and Mahindra & Mahindra among others.
