Reliance Power, part of the Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG) , develops, constructs and operates domestic and international power projects. It was incorporated as a private limited company on Jan. 17, got 1995, converted into a public limited company through shareholder resolution on Mar. 19, 2004, and got its present name on Jul. 7, 2007. The company is developing 13 power projects with a combined planned installed capacity of 28,200 MW as of Jan. 01, 2008 including seven coal-fired projects (14,620 MW) to be fueled by reserves from captive mines and supplies from India and abroad, two gas-fired projects (10,280 MW) to be fueled primarily by reserves from the Krishna Godavari Basin, and four hydroelectric projects (3,300 MW). Projects under implementation include Rosa Phase I and Rosa Phase II, both 600 MW coal-fired projects in Uttar Pradesh scheduled to be commissioned in March 2010 and September 2010 respectively; Butibori, a 300 MW coal-fired project scheduled to be commissioned in June 2010; Sasan, a 3,960 MW supercritical coal-fired power project scheduled to be commissioned by April 2016; Shahapur, a 1,200 MW coal-fired project scheduled to be commissioned in December 2011 and a combined cycle 2,800 MW gas-fired project scheduled to be commissioned in March 2011; Urthing Sobla, a 400 MW hydroelectric project on the Daulinganga River in Uttarakhand scheduled to be commissioned in March 2014. Gas-fired projects like the 7,800 MW Dadri project in Uttar Pradesh, coal-fired 3,960 MW MP Power in Madhya Pradesh, 4,000 MW Krishnapatnam project in Andhra Pradesh; and hydroelectric projects including the 1,000 MW Siyom, 700 MW Tato II, and 1,200 MW Kalai II hydroelectric projects in Arunachal Pradesh are in various stages of development. The company has formed several subsidiaries to implement these various projects.
