Harrisons Malayalam (HML) is engaged in various businesses including tea, rubber, and cocoa plantations; biotechnology; engineering; trading and exporting; clearing, and shipping. Part of the RPG group, the company was incorporated in January 1978. Harrisons Malayalam is India`s largest rubber plantation company with nine major rubber plantations, and the second largest tea producer in south India, owning 10 tea plantations. The rubber and tea plantations are spread over more than 20,000 hectares of land in South India. Harrison is also India's largest producer of pineapples. Harrisons Malayalam has divisions for tea, rubber, spices and horticulture crops, tissue culture, engineering and services, marketing of branded consumer products, trading and exports, clearing and shipping. It produces about 20 million kg of tea per annum through its 10 tea estates and 12 tea factories. It has 10 rubber estates producing 8.5 million Kg of its own and processes another 1.5 million Kg from others. The company produces over 25,000 tons of pineapple for domestic and export markets. It also cultivates passion fruit, cloves, pepper chilies, ginger, cardamom, cocoa, coconuts, areca nut and medicinal plants. The company has a modern tissue culture laboratory at Hosur, Tamil Nadu with a capacity of four million plants per annum. Harrisons Malayalam undertakes turnkey, electrical engineering, civil and structural engineering, and mechanical engineering projects for clients like Alberto Bertuzzi SpA (Italy), BPL India Group, Cochin Special Economic Zone, among others. It markets branded consumer products like Surya Tea, Mountain Mist, Harrisons Gold and Spencer`s and exports tea to Europe, Africa, the Middle East, New Zealand, USA and Canada. Clients include Twinings, Lab International, George S. Daras, Ams Baeshen, among others. The company engages in clearing and shipping activities with 12,000 sq. ft. of godown space close to Cochin port, six stuffing points, and can carry out in-house stuffing of 300 containers/month. Clients include Sentinel Tea and Exports, Ramesh Exports, among others. The company recently bagged three awards at the third Golden Leaf India Awards and is ISO certified.
