Analysis of the options data suggest that selling pressure is likely to occur at higher levels. The Nifty may top out near 5500 and thus one should consider fresh buying only if the index sustains above 5500 and to be precise above 5520 level. The bad days for Tata Motors are in the market as last Friday stock slipped 6.5% at Rs 1,086 after reporting a 18% year-on-year growth in its consolidated net profit at Rs 2,638 crore for the quarter ended March 2011 over the previous year. Indian Hotels Co Ltd on Tuesday reported a 57% rise in quarterly net profit, helped by higher occupancy and room rates, and said it expected founders to infuse Rs400 crore in the company by June next year.

Royal Bank of Scotland and Goldman Sachs have re-rated the stock on positive side. Overall market breadth was positive on the BSE with 1534 gainers as compared to 1286 losers.

BHEL has come with its results which were good but the disinvestment proposal by the govt opened the can of worms for the stock. The markets have given a thumbs-down to the stock on divestment proposal and that too despite a healthy March 2011 quarter performance The board of Bhel has given an in principle approval for a stock split of 1:5, which is a positive move.

Market is viewing the divestment of 5% stake as a negative development. Analysts believe that it will put further pressure on the stock and stock has been languishing for  past one year. Because of the disinvestment proposal, share has been hammered 7% to Rs 1935. This is a systematic design of butchering a navratna company.

Indian economy is very vulnerable to crude prices and slight rate increase can also play havoc with Indian economy. The accompanying image clearly demonstrates the manner in which our economy is getting effected due to increase in crude prices in international market. As it is we can see that we are most sensitive to crude prices among all these BRICs economy and among China, Brazil and US in particular.

As soon as crude price rises above $100 per barrel, our economy comes under pressure due to rising inflation and as a result RBI has to undertake tightening of CRR ratio which slows down loan disbursement as loans become costly. Stock market comes under pressure due to oil subsidy burden on Navratna companies. Due to spiralling crude prices; transportation becomes costly and thus it leads to inflation. Thus it is a vicious cycle and we need to break it to break it to become a global economy.
