Momentous decision for India to celebrate

1. It is a celebration time as India has become a part of elite group which has been considered responsible enough to handle nuclear material and same is feasible by virtue of ratification by 45-member Nuclear Suppliers Group comprising of prominent countries such as US, Australia, UK, Japan, Russia, China, France and Germany etc.


2. The hallmark decision has paved the way for India to reenter the global nuclear market as India was restricted from the same since 1974 post Pokhran nuclear tests. Now it will be just a matter of few days when the final step in form of ratification by US Congress will be undertaken.

3. Even US Ambassador to India, Mr David C. Mulford stated that decision to grant a waiver to India would strengthen global non-proliferation.
