1. Market surprised on the back off global cues and as a net result market closed at the day's high today. Sensex was up by 225 points and closed at 16978 and Nifty closed at 5011 with a gain of 53 points.
2. The CNX Midcaps index rose by 1.02%.
3. BSE Smallcaps index rose by 0.44%.
4. The BSE Metals index rose by 4.3%.
5. BSE IT index rose by 3.8%.
6. BSE Technology index rose by 3.19%.
7. Positive point for the market was gainers outpaced losers with advances at 678 against declines of 547 on the NSE.
8. Stocks which stole the limelight were Dr Reddy's, TCS and Hindalco.
9. Stocks which had a thumbs down approach were ONGC, GAIL and ACC.
