1. The Indian stock market was like a tortoise today where it started slowly and later on gined momentum and finally it won the race against the global peers today.
2. Stocks from sectors like realty, oil and gas and metals helped the index.
3. Sensex closed at 15760, up 403 points and Nifty at 4745, up 122 points from the previous close.
4. The CNX Midcaps index was up 1.46% and BSE Smallcaps index was up 0.05%. The BSE Realty index was up 4.7%, BSE Oil&Gas index and BSE Metal index both up 3%.
5. it is heartening that once again the market breadth was positive with advances at 636 against declines of 605 on the NSE.
6. The top Nifty gainers included Reliance Energy, DLF and Power Grid while losers included Bharti, Maruti and PNB.
