1. Dismal global cues affected the Indian market that saw a weak closing today and same was anticipated and thus readers were asked not to trade for first half an hour of the day.
2. Sensex closed at 18139, down 523 points and Nifty at 5322, down 161 points from the previous close.
3. The CNX Midcaps Index was down 1.6%, BSE Smallcaps Index was down almost 0.5%.
4. The BSE IT Index was down 5.5% and BSE Metal Index was down 3.6%.
5. The market breadth was negative with advances at 434 against declines of 782 on the NSE.
6. Top Nifty gainers included Gail, Reliance Energy, Reliance Communications and ABB while losers included Satyam, Wipro, Sterlite and Infosys.
