2.The market made a firm start, dipped low but closed with a smart recovery in late trade. The market is not giving the correct direction and has to close above Nifty 5500 to show the correct direction.
3. Sensex closed 117 points up at 17734 and Nifty 37 points up at 5191 from the previous close.
4. The CNX Midcaps index was up 0.4% and BSE Smallcaps index was up 0.6%. The BSE Metal index was up nearly 4%.
5. The market breadth was positive with advances at 723 against declines of 485 on the NSE.
6. Top Nifty gainers included Satyam, Hindalco, Nalco, SAIL and Infosys while losers included PNB, ABB, HDFC, Unitech and GAIL.
