1. The market witnessed a turbulent day with ups and downs.
2. Global cues too could not do much to keep the Indian market buoyant and it lost its gains to profit booking, closing negative.
3. The Sensex ended the day at 17,221, down 372 points from the previous close. Nifty shut shop at 5033, down 169 points.
4. CNX Midcap lost 3.2% and the BSE Smallcap index closed almost 4% lower. Metal, capital goods and realty stocks were beaten the most today.
5. Biggest gainers on the Sensex includes HDFC, Satyam and Reliance Communications, while losers include NTPC, Reliance Energy and L&T
