1. The Asian markets saw some volatility but in a range.
2. The Indian market opened firm but did not take kindly to RBI policy announcement of no changes in rates.
3. The market ended flat today. Sensex closed at 18091, down 60 points and Nifty at 5280, up 6 points from the previous close.
4. The CNX Midcaps Index was down 0.3% and BSE Smallcaps Index was up 0.7%. BSE Bankex was down 3.4%, BSE Realty Index was down 2.7% and BSE FMCG was up 2.6%.
5. The market breadth was positive with advances at 705 against declines of 507 on the NSE.
5. Traders expect the US Federal government to announce a cut of 50 bps in its next meeting.
6. Top Nifty gainers today included Suzlon, Cairn, Idea and Cipla while losers included Unitech, Dr Reddys, ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank
