1. It is no doubt that brokerage houses are able to spot the trends and quality stocks before any other individual investing in the stock market by virtue of their foresight and financial information available to them by virtue of their size.

2. Another advantage with brokerage houses/mutual funds is that they generally have a member on the board of the companies by virtue of their investment in those companies and are thus able to get the internal information which is available only to a select few individuals only.

3. Now they initiate coverage for any stock either in their portfolio or have undertaken the stake in the select stock.

4. Thus the coverage at times act as a double edged weapon and one needs to tread the path with caution and one must substantiate the fact with other agencies before plunging solely on the advice of a brokerage house.
