Soma Tex founders make open offer at Rs 32 per share

Wednesday, 21 February , 2007, 11:01

Mumbai: The promoter group of Soma Textiles & Industries Ltd. on Wednesday made an open offer to buy 20 per cent of the company's equity capital at Rs 32 per share. The offer was being made after the group acquired a 11.2 per cent stake through open market purchase at an average price of Rs 28.06 a share on Feb. 19, the founders said in a public announcement.

With this, the founders had acquired a total of 14.53 per cent stake in the company during the current financial year, triggering a regulatory mandate for an open offer.

Under the rules of market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India, substantial shareholders acquiring more than five per cent of share capital in a given year must come out with an open offer for at least 20 per cent more.

Founders now hold 33.7 per cent in Soma Textiles.

The open offer will begin on April 13 and close on May 2.

Shares closed at Rs 36.5 in the Mumbai market on wednesday.

1. The finance ministry might go for raising zero income tax slab to Rs 1,50,000 against the current level of Rs 1,00,000.
2. Over and above Rs 1,00,000, income tax exemption might be given for another Rs 30,000-50,000, especially for infrastructure. Or alternatively, there might be consolidated savings limit of Rs 1,30,000-1,50,000 . With the government exploring various options to attract long-term funds for infrastructure, savings in certain categories up to Rs 1,30,000-1,50,000 a year may qualify for income tax exemption in the coming Budget against Rs 1,00,000 currently.
3. So far as the slabs are concerned, currently, income up to Rs 1,00,000 does not attract any tax with Rs 1,00,000-1,50,000 drawing tax at the rate of 10 per cent.
4. Income from Rs 1,50,000 -2,50,000 attract 20 per cent income tax and 30 per cent above Rs 2,50,000. Besides, there is surcharge of 10 per cent on Rs 10 lakh taxable income.
5. For women, income up to Rs 1,35,000 does not attract income tax and Rs 1,35,000-1,50,000 draws 10 per cent tax rate. Above this level, the tax rates are same as that for men.
6. Senior citizens get tax exemption up to Rs 1,85,000 and do not have 10 per cent tax slab. There is also likelihood that the Budget would lower the age for senior citizens from 65 years to 60 years, the sources added.

1. RSI stands for relative strength index.
2. Compares magnitude of stock recent gains to magnitude of stock recent losses.
3. Comparison turns that information into a number that ranges from 0-100.
4. RSI=30 means that stock is oversold.
5. RSI=70 means that stock is overbought.
6. If RSI moves below 30 line it would mean that stock could reverse any time.
7. If RSI moves above 70 it would mean that excessive momentum has beeen generated and a slow down may be around the corner.
8. BUY SIGNAL - It is generated when average line cuts RSI line from below and to move above it.
9. SELL SIGNAL- It is generated when average line cuts RSI from above and moves below it.
10. Divergence(means difference in trend between the RSI and underlying stock price) is created when RSI is moving lower and underlying stock is making new highs.It means that the rally lacks strength and vice versa.

Undertake the direct encounter of your brokers by showing them the brokerage charges in Reliance Money which is an aggressive player to brokerage charges ICICI which is a slow and steady winner. Offlate Indiabulls is also going to introduce the security token system for online trading wef 29 Oct 2009.

(b) ICICIDirect Site is suitable for an individual who intend to hold scrips for a longer duration and number of transactions is limited.This site is useful for those who are not worried about speed of platform and use limit orders.I can say with authority here that the site is definitely not suitable for day trading unless these ICICI personnel intends to change the operating platform.If you can "Fill It and Forget It"(referring to orders) type guy similar to Honda ad type then the site may be suitable for you. The brokerage charged is highest among all the available online platforms. Moreover they have grown their boots and one may not be satisfied with their performance.

(c) Reliance Money : It is a new player in the field and has to establish itself before any final verdict can be passed.However be wary of their hiding details. They are charging on the basis of a card system where one has to buy the credit initially and thereafter all trades are available at very reasonable rates. However I was not happy with the speed of the platform. Reliance money has a security token system where a key is provided to you and you have to enter that key data every time one logs in the online trading platform.

(d) Indiainfoline(5 paisa) :The site has to improve on its relationship with its customers and definitely has to provide a competitive brokerage to its customer. They never responded to a number of phone calls sent through our office.

(e) ShareKhan: Definitely a good site with good research but only hiccup is their high brokerage linked to turnover.

Remaining all other accounts of other companies are almost on equal footing with warying brokerage plans.. So if you are the one ready to jump to open an online account then consider that speed of internet is an important criterion for any platform to function.

Thus keeping all consideration in mind IndiaBulls perform the best as at one or the other stage I operated above trading platforms and finally settled for Indiabulls with Powerindiabull feature.
