How Many Times Market Should be Checked?

The key to the problem that how many times the market should be checked depends on your style of your trading. If you are an intraday trader; then it is preferable that you have a presence near the online platform or let your broker monitor your position. However in intraday if you can not monitor your trade then do not trade without a stop loss.

Now say if you are a swing trader, then make sure that you need to check the market once every day and preferably at the end of the day (EOD). You must check the market before you plan to undertake the action.

If you are not going to take the action on your swing trade next day; then you can just sit and relax and you need not check the market that day. Last but not least if you are going on a vacation, then preferably close the trades or apply the trades with sell order and keep these trades valid for number of days as now online platforms have the facility where the order can be valid for number of days. Just remember that it is a cardinal trading mistake to check the market regularly more than once or at max twice; if you are an swing trader.
