We are definitely at a loss when one finds that the shutter is down for the ATM due to some satellite problem or cash finish. This generally happens on the day when people gets salary in their accounts.
Now to make your life easier and to expand banking services in the non-bank areas, RBI has allowed non-bank entities to open White-Label ATMs (WLA) across India. This concept is prevalent in a large number of developed countries.
These white label ATMs are not owned by banks but can be operated by any of the large corporate group like Tata, Birla or Reliance group etc. They will have to have a tie up with a clearing scheduled bank.
Now one has easier access to money even in remote areas.
The service will come at a price and RBI needs to monitor this price per transaction and all complaints should be addressed through a central agency.
