As we had stated yesterday that Nifty and Sensex are trading with a negative bias and same was seen effectively as selling in blue chip stocks has been seen due to profit booking and FIIs have also started taking out money from Indian market. In coming days all eyes are on 03 Nov RBI rate meeting and we all know they will adopt a hawkish stand to keep the inflation monster under control. Global Markets Update

The European markets are mostly higher in afternoon trading Thursday, a day after the U.S. Federal Reserve decided to leave interest rates unchanged at near-zero levels. Positive earnings reports also influenced sentiment, as optimism about economic recovery encouraged risk appetite. Asia was in an upbeat mood after Wall Street cheered Ben Bernanke's statement that rates would remain unchanged. U.S. GDP at 1.8% in Q1 and jobless claims at 3-mth high will also have an impact on global economy.

Chinese Projections

IMF is upbeat on China where it has stated that China's economy will leapfrog U.S. by 2016; however analysts differ as they feel that the IMF calculation is based on "purchasing power parity" (PPP), which does not reflect real money. It relies on projecting China's stellar growth rates five years into the future. And it relies on Chinese official statistics, which are more than a little questionable as their energy demand is not commensurate to the growth being projected in public domain and at times it is articulated. However US can not ignore the IMF report IMF report and it should serve as a wakeup call to attack and address the many problems that threaten US country's global leadership.

China is not going to rest as about 2 years ago, China had proposed the replacing of US dollar with SDRs (Special Depository Receipts). The rate for the SDR would be a weighted average of a basket of global currencies and not just determined by the US dollar. However, this proposal was not accepted at the time. But China has not lost hope and is still trying alternative means to end the US dollar's reign. China has now gone ahead and established mutual lines of credit with countries in local currencies with the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) countries with which it has huge amounts of trade. Through this these countries are able to minimize their foreign exchange risks. However, it also minimizes their dependence on US dollar for trade with China. For now it looks like China is successfully paving the path to end the dominion of US dollar in the years to come. Thus going by the efforts of China US can not ignore China which is definitely rising at a rate which can be a threat for the hegemony which is established by it and definitely US is a better bet for world stability than China.

It is going to be a roller coaster ride in the market tomorrow by virtue of market experiencing the derivative expiry delivery pains like labour pains and it is unpredicted. No clear trend has emerged except that mkt is trading with a negative bias and clear trend will emerge only post closure of the market. Banking stocks saw a decline in the market by virtue of RBI imposing penalties on 19 banks for not complying with its instructions on derivatives. One has to keep the  credit policy which is also in sight on Tuesday and it will also have an impact on Dalal Street activity as investors and traders will be trading with a cautionary approach towards their investments. The market breadth was marginally negative in today’s trade with 1,317 advances as against 1558 declines at Bombay stock exchange.

One need not worry as market is aware of the factors which can affect the earning potential of the companies and we see at maximum a correction of 9% and in terms of Nifty it translates into a correction of approx 600 points where again value buying will emerge.

Air India has done right by hitting back at the striking pilots and has terminated the services of six members of the Indian Commercial Pilot Association (ICPA). The airline has declared the strike illegal and now private airlines are cashing it as an opportunity by increasing fare prices steeply. Now where civil aviation guidelines have gone where they had stated that all airlines will be made to display fares and will not be able to change it drastically. It is a harrowing experience for a struck person and worse airport we have seen in Calcutta where one even do not get place to sit on stairs and this is the state of an airport.

Indecisiveness continues to be the order of the day and market is likely to be range bound in the range of 5700-5735-5800-6050-6135. As stated for last trading day of the week, Infosys as Infosys fourth quarter results were below analysts' estimates. One has a reason to worry if the level of 5735 is broken by the Nifty as Nifty is going to get a good support near 5800 levels. The figure of 5735 has importance as it also happens to be 200 days moving exponential average. Stiff resistance will be seen in Nifty at the levels of 6000 as it will act as a psychological barrier for Nifty. Markets are presently in the consolidation phase. The market will get a kick upstart with impending results and guidance for the coming year. All those looking for good profitable day trading shares can just latch on with the opportunity and those with patience can hold the quality midcap stocks as midcaps are available at good valuation in the market. Market breadth was negative with 1597 shares declining with 1303 shares advancing and thus coming week we may see selling pressure in Nifty during its consolidation phase.

Infosys Results Analysis

The point to note is that Infosys reported 17% jump in net profit y-o-y, which is below dalal street expectations. Infosys plans to add 45,000 people in FY12 broadly in-line with 43,120 gross additions made in FY11. For the next quarter, Infosys expects revenues of Rs 7311-7382 crore, a growth of a mere 1-2 per cent over the March 2011 quarter. The major reason for Infosys Technologies, going down was Mohandas Pai, who was member of the board and head – human resource development and education & research, quitting the board room. He is next in line after resignation of Nanadan Nikelani, which has created a stir in the price of the company.

Impending CRR Hike

We may see another hike in CRR by RBI as inflation for the month of March surpassed the Reserve Bank of India target of 8%. Thus this will also act as a dampener in the market. We may see hike on 23 Mar when RBI meets for considering another rate hike. Now we just need to see whether this hike is going to be 50 basis points or 25 basis points.

Companies Results

Infosys has kept the Indian markets under pressure and now we need to watch the earnings season as results of key companies like TCS, HCL Tech, JSPL, HDFC Bank, Indusind Bank and Persistent Systems will be coming for Q4 FY11.  We may see margins under pressure due to rise in the input costs in the manufacturing sector.

Globally upbeat report on U.S. retail sales in the month of March is working wonders for the financial markets.

Muthoot Finance IPO price band is likely to be between Rs 160-175/share and we see it is going aggressively with its media campaign and brand ambassadors.

Why we are saying that opportunity exists in the midcap segment as valuations of Nifty stocks are now at a substantial premium when compared with the midcap counters and thus a proper guide can help one to get the midcaps which are worth accumulating now and same has been realised and that is the reason we are seeing the attention  shifting from Nifty stocks to broader market. So it is possible that even though the Nifty might correct a bit, the breadth of market might continue to be stronger than the Nifty or the Sensex. In a study of 44 nations, China ranks at 29 while India comes in at 30.  Moreover now China has probably softened its stand on stapled visa as it has has given proper pasted visas to four journalists born in the state of J&K. The journalists are part of the media delegation that is travelling with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh tomorrow to Sanya in China for the Brazil-Russia-India-China-South Africa (BRICS) Summit. Stapled visa were being given as China wanted to show that it does not consider J&K as a part o India. Better late than never and we need to keep our guard up as China is like a serpent which can bite anytime.

Global Financial market News

Globally good news is that Crude oil futures has eased about half a percent to near $112 a barrel amid reports of a possible Libyan peace plan. The U.S. dollar was mixed against its major counterparts on Monday after U.S. lawmakers pulled the government back from the brink of a shutdown by agreeing to cut about $38 billion from federal spending this year. The Bank of Japan on Monday lowered the assessment for seven out of nine regional economies, citing setbacks in production following the Great East Japan Earthquake. Let us hope that Portuguese also gets some sense of stability on financial front.
