Who Can Apply in Indian IPO?

As we are aware that IPO is a facility extended through SEBI and Registrar and Companies to participate in a new company and following three type of categories of investors can apply for an IPO in India.

  • Qualified institutional buyers (QIBs) which include Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) and mutual funds, banks and financial institutions, pension funds and insurance funds and other institutional investors.
  • High net worth individuals or non-institutional buyers (NIBs) who invest more than Rs 2 lakhs
  • Retail individual investors (including eligible NRIs and HUFs in the name of Karta) who invest upto Rs 2 lakhs in an issue.
One need to apply a judicious approach while going for an IPO and should consult their financial advisor before applying for an IPO
