Fujiyama Power Systems IPO: Why investors should wait before powering on
India’s renewable-energy IPO wave continues, but not all issues offer the same comfort level to long-term investors. Fujiyama Power Systems, an emerging energy-consumer electronics player, has launched its ₹228-crore IPO with a mix of solar, battery-based power solutions, inverters and lithium-ion systems.
Although revenues have grown sharply over the last two years, the company’s dependence on subsidies, thin margins and highly concentrated markets suggest that investors must take a measured, not emotional, approach.
About Fujiyama Power Systems and its business model
Fujiyama operates across solar panels, lithium-ion batteries, power backup units, and consumer energy electronics. The company’s expansion has been rapid, driven by demand for rooftop solar and inverter solutions. However, most of the growth has come from a surge in government-linked schemes — primarily in Uttar Pradesh, which alone accounts for over 70 per cent of retail sales.
The company has also expanded manufacturing presence through contract facilities across Noida, Una, Greater Noida and Parwanoo. Yet, a major part of the portfolio remains dependent on state subsidies rather than broad-based retail expansion.
Financial performance: Growth strong, earnings volatile
Revenue rose sharply from ₹664 crore in FY23 to ₹1,540 crore in FY25, supported by aggressive installation activity under state solar programmes. EBITDA margins improved from 7.8% to 10.7% between FY23 and FY25.
However, profit patterns remain lumpy. PAT jumped from ₹44 crore in FY23 to ₹156 crore in FY25 before moderating to ₹67 crore in Q1 FY26. The spike reflects extraordinary subsidy-driven demand rather than sustainable earnings power.
Why heavy dependence on subsidies is risky
• The company’s sales surge is tied directly to state-level rooftop schemes.
• Over 60% of retail demand originates from Uttar Pradesh alone.
• Any policy slowdown can significantly impact revenue visibility.
• Inventory, working-capital requirements and execution capabilities will become critical in the absence of subsidies.
Subsidy-driven demand is inherently cyclical, not structural.
Operational concerns investors should note
The company imports several components, especially lithium cells, from China, leading to foreign-supplier dependency.
Moreover, inverter capacity additions and the new ₹180-crore Ratlam plant are expected to scale output, but this requires stabilisation and efficient capital utilisation.
Growth areas like solar panels, rooftop solutions and inverters remain intensely competitive, compressing long-term margins.

Valuation perspective and IPO view
While revenue growth looks impressive on paper, the quality of earnings remains uncertain. Customer concentration, subsidy-led volumes, rising working-capital needs and volatile margins demand caution.
The IPO pricing does not materially discount these risks, and investors should wait for clearer evidence of stabilised margins and sustained retail-driven growth before considering exposure.
Investor takeaway
Fujiyama Power Systems has delivered fast-paced top-line expansion, but the core drivers — subsidy-dependent demand and deeply concentrated geographic exposure — make near-term earnings unpredictable. Investors should adopt a wait-and-watch stance until the company demonstrates more durable profitability and diversified revenue sources.
