Jewellers Have a Reason to Cheer with Enhanced Exemption Limit on Excise Duty

We were amazed to see such a solidarity among jeweller community where they kept the whole markets closed for a consecutive number of days to protest the proposals made by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee in budget 2012 which were construed against the jewellery market.

Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee has given a solace to jewellers by stating that there will be no excise duty on purchase of jewellery valued at Rs 5 lakh. earlier this limit was Rs 2 Lakh on jewellery purchase.
